Mid-term Conference, Gothenburg, Sweden 25-27 May 2010

SAWA Lead Partner - LSBG - would like to thank all conference participants for making the SAWA mid-term conference to such a successful event. Below you will find most of the PPT-presentations that were presented at the conference. The purpose of the conference:

  • Presentation of the actual scientific results concerning climate change and inundations
  • Reflection to develop strategies to implement the EC water policy on a local level.

People target:

  • Water experts, administrative and technical authorities, who are invited to the 26-27 May.

SAWA's main aim is to develop a common adaptive implementation strategy for the new flood directive (FD) integrating the settings of the water framework directive (WFD). SAWA´s role is to promote novel and innovative solutions in flood risk management by adaptive flood protection measures and by delivering the tools to transfer this knowledge to the next generation. Thursday 27 May - Excursion Day

  • Introduction: Challenges the city of Gothenburg faces today at extreme weather conditions - how will a changed climate impact the situation? by Ulf Moback, City of Göteborg
  • Visiting some of the "hot spots" in the city centre
  • Boat trip - We take a look at the city and pass by the areas of Gullbergsvass and Tingstad, where the big pumps for securing the tunnel are situated. The tour allows us to get an impression of the whole town, and since the tour is guided we also get to know some city history.
  • Joint lunch
